It gives you a healthy dose of sweetness and fat, but also fills you up in between meals. Reach for a Yogurt

Yogurt can help satisfy that sweet tooth without ruining your diet. Try a six or eight ounce cup and add a few berries to kick up the antioxidants while you’re at it. Also, with its mixture of proteins and carbs, it helps keep your blood sugar levels normalized and keeps away the hunger pains until meal time.

Go Retro

Peanut butter and celery sticks were something your mom used to put in your lunchbox at school, but this protein-packed, salty snack actually helps you stay on track with your diet. If you’re craving sweet or salty in between meals, try 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter and four celery stalks.

Eat Nuts

Reach for raw, unsalted almonds if you’re craving something in between meals. In fact, 23 almonds has just 162 calories. It offers a good deal of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and even vitamin E. If you’re just finishing a workout, almonds can help your body recover and because they contain alpha-linoleic acid, they can increase your body’s ability to burn fat.

Eat Mandarin Oranges

If a sweet tooth is getting in the way of your diet, try mandarin oranges (canned in their own juices) with a topping of light whipped cream. You’ll get tons of vitamin C and antioxidants and the whipped cream makes you feel as though you’re eating a dessert.

Apples and low-fat cheese are diet-friendly too. They’re packed with fiber, antioxidants and vitamins that help stop your cravings in between meals. Avoid the expensive cheese dips though – these are high in calories and fat.

Snacking, when done right, can help you lose weight and stay on track with your diet. Remember that portions are key with any meal – including snacks. While you might be eating a high-fat snack, if you keep the portion right, you can indulge a little without undoing everything you’ve worked for.
